Can anyone give me an idea of how to speak cockney? (Eg, Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady")?
I'm trying out for the role tomorrow morning, and I really do not know how to speak cockney. (I am one of those people who love to enunciate it, so you're sure will be fun!;)) It's gonna be a cold reading for auditions, so if you could have a little advantage, I love it. I know that you do not say his "I" or the H …. What more?
Give the end of words, and the emphasis and the way you say the vowels are different. I agree, rent some old movies and treat imitate. In fact, I learned to talk by imitating a cockney British rapper Mike Skinner caled of The Streets fame. "Not only is music worth seeing, but will give you a head start in the right accent.
